MVP first developed this Interactive Benefits Guide using its own proprietary SmartSite™ technology for the American College of Physicians (ACP) in 2010. The online application was used to educate ACP members about the benefits of belonging to the organization with a synchronized multimedia presentation that combined texts and images with video and audio. However, the Interactive Benefits Guide was initially developed using Flash programming, which is not compatible with iOS operating systems such as those found on the Apple iPhone® and iPad®. To ensure that users of all devices could maintain access to the online platform, MVP redeveloped it in HTML5 and created a special mobile-optimized version for smartphones.
The mobile-optimized version starts with a simple choice selection screen instead of the desktop/laptop/tablet versions' immediate start of synchronized media upon first visit. This not only made navigation on the smaller screens easier, but it also reduced the load times that could otherwise become burdensome for the lesser data-handling capabilities of smartphones. Users are able to view the introductory videos affiliated with each section of content at will. They can view additional information within each module through a series of submenus on each. The design was coordinated to complement the existing web platform. The final result ensured that everyone could access the important information found in the ACP Interactive Benefits guide regardless of device used.
